So a little over or under an hour ago I got a call for my sister telling me that I should tell her that the person on the phone needed to speak with her. Currently, Shona [my sister] is at work and so because I didn't know how urgent this message was, I decided to call her.
Dialling the number I was greeted by someone answering the phone. Now being a little deaf when it comes to conversing through the phone I immediately assumed it was my sister and so I said a little too loudly and enthusiastly 'HELLO!' and the reply was a slightly confused hello back. Still thinking it was my sister on the phone and that she was just being a bit silly to not realise it was me, I then went on to say [still loudly] 'It's Holly!' and the reply to that was 'Sorry, who?'
It was around about this point I realised it wasn't my sister on the phone so my genius response came in the form of 'Oh, [long pause] is Shona there?'
How embarrassing. It was however also slightly funny as I think I may have genuinely scared someone.
Hello and pleased to meet you.

You should try thinking that your dad is on the phone, and then saying 'Battersea Dog Home, Jack Russel speaking...' Funny now, not then.
ReplyDeleteLol I'm sure if I were there it would have been funny then too.
